ABOUT SA YOUTH CHOIR
The SA Youth Choir is one of South Africa’s most dynamic and respected youth choral ensembles, based in Cape Town and celebrated for its vibrant performances, artistic excellence, and cultural diversity. The choir brings together exceptionally talented young singers from across South Africa, ranging roughly from 15 to 22 years old, representing the rich cultural tapestry of the nation.
Under the artistic direction of Phil Robinson, a seasoned conductor and choral mentor, the choir has grown into an internationally recognized musical project that champions both excellence in performance and youth development through music. Robinson has been associated with the choir’s leadership since 2013, helping shape its artistic identity and international presence.
MORE ON SA YOUTH CHOIR
At its core, the SA Youth Choir exists to nurture young vocal talent and to provide a platform where emerging artists can excel both musically and personally. The choir embodies the spirit of Ubuntu — celebrating unity, diversity, and shared humanity — by bringing together singers from different communities and backgrounds in harmony and performance.
WHAT WE DO
Performance Excellence: The choir performs at major events, festivals, and corporate functions across South Africa and abroad, showcasing a repertoire that blends traditional African melodies, contemporary choral works, and global classics.
Awards & Recognition: Over the years, the choir has earned accolades such as “Best Youth Choir” at the prestigious ATKV Animato International Choir Competition and Best Regional Choir (under 19) at the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod — affirming its standing as a leading youth ensemble.
Artistic Development: Beyond the stage, the choir encourages growth through mentorship, workshops, and collaborative projects, inspiring young singers to pursue excellence, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
We strive to be a cultural ambassador of South Africa, using the universal language of music to connect hearts, bridge cultures, and celebrate the creative potential of our nation’s youth. Through our performances and community engagement, we aim to uplift audiences and open doors for the next generation of South African artists.
